Description:
This extremely hardy cultivar is originally from the Czech Republic. It has a medium growth rate and mounding form that is easy to maintain. Adaptable to moist, well-drained soils.
Pruning is generally not needed. If you choose to prune -only after the plant is established- do so by thinning no more than 25% in late winter-early spring. Blooming occurs on old wood, so do not prune before harvest.
Honeysuckle fruit looks like elongated blueberries that are one inch long. They are a superfruit with more antioxidants and three times the vitamin C than blueberries. At least two honeysuckle varieties should be planted for the best fruit crops. The fruits can be eaten fresh, frozen, or made into jams, pies, and juices.
