Our lab can best be described in two words: Creative Chaos! This is a space where undergraduate and graduate research assistants, researchers and faculty regularly gather. Fondly nicknamed “The Oasis,” it is exactly that. It’s a place where we gather to develop active learning classes and projects, process samples for teaching tree anatomy and physiology, analyze research data and create reports, write and produce training manuals for urban forestry volunteer groups, compose fact sheets, and brainstorm new research and outreach ideas.
It is also a welcome center where we host visiting prospective students in forestry and urban forestry, MN Certified Tree Inspectors, and guest researchers to our Department of Forest Resources. Sometimes, it’s a place where city foresters, commercial arborists and volunteers just stop by to share or borrow ideas. You should make it a point to stop by and visit someday.
