Description: The flowers are cream colored and arranged in a flat topped cluster; they have no fragrance. The drupes are yellow-red, transitioning to blue-black when they are ripe in the fall. The leaves are long with a slightly toothed and wavy margin; in the autumn they turn reddish-purple.
Nannyberry can be grown as a large, multi-stemmed shrub or a small tree. Nannyberry can be used as a speciman tree, in borders and windbreaks, and under ulitiy wires. It has a moderate growth rate prone to suckering. Tolerances include dry and wet sites, flooding, any light levels, moderate road salt, and alkaline soils.
