Description:
The hemlock is a beautiful tree that needs a particular environment to thrive. It does not do well in the urban environment because its site needs are usually incompatible. As a result, this tree is rarely seen in Minnesota's cities. This tree has numerous insect and disease problems. Hemlock will do well in abundantly moist, well-drained soils; partial shade; and with protection from wind.
