The Minnesota GreenCorps

The Minnesota GreenCorps program is a statewide initiative coordinated by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (PCA) in conjunction with Americorps. In this program AmeriCorps members are placed with host organizations throughout the state to help communities, local governments, and institutions address a variety of environmental needs.

In the 2018-2019 service year there are 42 Minnesota GreenCorps members throughout the state who have been placed into one of four focus areas:

  • Air pollutant reduction
  • Waste reduction, recycling, and organics management
  • Green infrastructure improvements
  • Community readiness and outreach

Urban Forestry resides in the Green Infrastructure Improvements focus area, and in the 2018-2019 year there are four urban forestry related host sites:

  • Plymouth
  • Shell Rock River Watershed District
  • Mississippi Park Connection
  • Tree Trust
